Development

As part of our ongoing development campaign here at Westacre Theatre, we are always looking for new ways to fundraise and boost awareness about all the great activities, events and opportunities we offer to the community of West Norfolk...and beyond!

As recent visitors to the theatre will have seen, at the start of the year work was completed to extend and enhance our foyer area, bar and kitchens. This work means not only are we able to welcome more audiences and participants than ever before, we are also able to widen our scope for catering on-site, which might mean things like pre-theatre suppers or a cafe with longer opening hours during the daytime etc. All great news for bringing in more people to use and enjoy our venue.

After much tireless fundraising, grant and planning applications, work has now also begun on the building of our second space. As regular patrons of Westacre will remember, we began our life in the village performing in the open air in the ruins of Westacre priory. When, for various reasons, this became no longer possible we were able to build a permenant summer tent housing a theatre-in-the-round performing space seating 150, in 2005. We used this for 5 years but again, due to various reasons beyond our control, this is no longer appropriate for our purposes. Looking to the future, we are in desperate need of a second space for rehearsals, drama workshops and all the many activities we house presently and hope to in the future.

This building work, aiming for completion in Summer 2013, should provide the first step in securing the future of Westacre by giving us that all important second space. Of course, we will maintain our use of our existing studio space but when it is full up with a set for a production, we will still be able to house rehearsals or workshops or anything else in our new Creative Arts Space!

If you would like to help contribute towards the future of the organisation, you can do so by becoming a Westacre Theatre-Creator. For more information on how you can donate to the development campaign, just either call the office on 01760 755007 or email admin@westacretheatre.com for a form.
