Performing Arts MATTERS!
We care deeply about providing as many young people as humanly possible access to the performing arts and the opportunity to get involved in theatre life, because we know how amazing it is and what a huge difference it can make to young lives. But why do we believe that the performing arts benefit young people so much?
The Importance of Performing Arts in Youth Development
As we all know the arts is becoming almost extinct in our schools, slipping further and further off the Curriculum, yet studies prove that when elements of performing arts are taught, children benefit from enhanced performance in other academic subjects like Maths and English. The performing arts enable children to express themselves and develop their creativity. They also teach children language and communication skills, helping them to interact effectively with others and improve self-confidence. Performing arts matter!
We provide an eclectic mix of drama workshops from 4 yrs and up, with access to fantastic facilities and an outdoor stage set in a gorgeous rural countryside location - young people cannot fail to be inspired. We also have a large and dedicated group of young people who also participate in both Youth productions and Westacre Theatre Company shows. They have the chance to operate the lights & sound for various events and productions.
Many of our young people go on to University or Drama school and then return to us as Bursary students. Our close connections with our local primary and secondary schools means we are able to provide an inspiring space for children to not only experience the joys of Theatre but to also have access to wonderful shows.
